If you’ve had an injection appointment with us recently and have concerns regarding the injection site, please read the FAQs below. After reading the FAQs, if you believe you’re experiencing serious side effects, fill out the form at the bottom of this page, and please make sure to add your symptoms and updated contact information. As your safety is our top priority, you’ll receive a response from one of our team members as soon as possible. Please keep your phone close by for us to be able to contact you back.

    • Severe pain

    • Blanching (whitening of the skin)

    • A purple web-like or lace-like pattern form near the site of injection

    • Blister formation on the skin

    • Changes to vision, such as a loss in visual field or a large decrease in visual acuity

    • Dusky skin (the skin turns bluish-grey)


    The above symptoms and signs are suggestive of a vascular occlusive event. An occlusion (blockage of a blood vessel) can occur up to 36 hours after treatment. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please get in touch with EA to be assessed by a trained professional. Please do not delay, as the sooner vascular occlusions are treated, the better the prognosis.

    • Bruising - this can take up to 2 weeks to fully heal

    • Swelling - this can take up to 2 weeks to fully heal, but will cap at 72 hours (so, your swelling will not increase in size after 72 hours)

    • Bumps

    • Pain around injection site

    • Itching

    • Ice the injection area

    • Take Tylenol

    • Take rest
